What's Spinning

In The News
ISIC's research partner, USC's Center for Telecom Management, hosted a very successful workshop, "Managing the Digital Home Entertainment Business Ecosystem", on December 6, 2006, at the Galen Center on the USC campus. The workshop brought together speakers and participants from over 30 companies involved in the digital home, including panelists from AT&T, Verizon, Intel, Disney, and MakeItWork Inc. The workshop was the first event hosted as part of the joint ISIC - USC project on Digital Home Entertainment. The workshop agenda and powerpoints presented at the event can be viewed here.

ISIC is also pleased to announce that the Research Director of USC's Center for Telecom Management, Professor Omar el Sawy, will join ISIC as an Affiliated Researcher. Dr. El Sawy is Professor of Information Systems in the Information and Operations Management Department at the Marshall School of Business, USC. As Director of Research, he leads an industry-sponsored research program that focuses on critical infrastructure management, e-business collaborative integration, digital innovation and wireless mobility. Professor El Sawy and ISIC Research Director James Short are co-principal investigators on the Home CIO project.

New Project
In January 2007 ISIC is launching a new research project, Homogeneous versus Heterogeneous Storage: Assessing What The Market and Users Say. The project addresses the views of end users in evaluating the costs and benefits of homogeneous versus heterogeneous storage architectures. The project will be conducted in concert with the implementation of an online, virtual market by Storage Markets Inc. (www.storagemarkets.com), a predictive markets data provider and ISIC sponsor. ISIC and Storage Markets will collaborate on the analysis of trading behavior in the virtual market. ISIC will also conduct surveys of data center managers, storage and IT professionals, and complete several case studies. The project will run one year, with project updates posted quarterly on this website. A description of the project can be viewed here. Individuals and companies interested in participating in the research project should contact the project's principal investigator, James Short.
